Epic Brewing Milk Stout

What the brewers say

“A sweet, creamy nitro stout with hints of roast chocolate, toffee, burnt marshmallow, and roasted nuts.”

What our panel thought

“Bittersweet chocolate and coffee on the nose; quite clean. Very smooth mouthfeel, reminiscent of an espresso with just a layer of milk foam. The dark malt chocolate and coffee flavors take center stage while the milk sugar supports. A pinch of cola and some coffee notes in the flavor. Brings to mind Jelly Belly’s cappuccino-flavored jelly beans. Aftertaste is filled with creamy coffee flavors. Overall, it’s a very drinkable, well-balanced milk stout with just enough of a bittersweet punch.”

What our editors thought

“Beautiful aroma with big notes of chicory coffee and rustic bread crust. The flavor is smooth and buffed with a toothy matte finish—chocolate, coffee, bready roasted malt, and a succinct bitterness that pulls it together in an understated finish. The light body offers just enough heft to balance the sharper elements while still optimizing for repeat pints. Deliciously simple with near perfect execution.”
