Melvin Brewing Pils Boutique
What the brewers say
“West Coast–style pils.”
What our panel thought
“Intense green onion, pine, lemony citrus, and diesel-like aromatics. Despite the relatively intense hop presence in the nose, the flavor elements are a bit more subdued, allowing you to contemplate the nuanced bitterness. The balance is on point, and the finish is clean and crisp, almost begging you to dive back into the next sip.”
What our editors thought
“Fresh green herbs and tropical flowers in the aroma, with a lilting amaro-like herbal bitterness. Light tropical fruit in the sip—yuzu, papaya—with a zippy leek or fennel-stalk bitterness and a lingering semisweet malt. It toes a tight line with just enough lager-fermentation notes to maintain its identity without muddying the hop character.”
