Old Thunder Brewing Abnormal Beliefs

What the brewers say

“Brown ale with Midwest barley malt, English caramel and chocolate malts, PNW hops.”

What our panel thought

“Initial aroma is citrus/grapefruit hops, with sweet malt hidden. Fruity esters round out the aroma. Citrus hops continue into the flavor, providing a light acidity that balances the medium-sweet, lightly toasted, dry malt flavor. Both flavors linger long into the finish. Balance swings hoppy.”

What our editors thought

“Ambiguously fruity aroma with bits of lemon and lime, but very little malt. Tight, focused bread-crust flavors linger with a slightly burnt crust and fruit finish.”

REVIEWS FOR YOU >

Old Thunder Brewing Mild Stillage

“Great malt-forward aroma, with notes of caramel and toffee and an inviting toasted nuttiness, supported by warm toasted bread and faint molasses notes. Slight red apple rounds out the aromatics. Pomme fruit character dominates the palate, balanced by notes of roast and toast. Light hop bitterness keeps the malt sweetness in balance. A great malt finish with a balance of toast, coffee, caramel, toffee. Reminiscent of classic mild ales.”

Old Thunder Brewing Same Places

“Medium floral, earthy, and woody hop aroma with light bready malt notes. Grainy malt flavor with floral hop notes. Crisp, dry finish with an effervescent carbonation. Medium-light hop bitterness.”

Old Thunder Brewing The Power of Ink

“Lemon zest and floral notes in the aroma balanced by bready and cracker malt elements. Lovely soft water brightness throughout. Clean malt flavors combine with citrus and fruity hops to create a sip that leans a little sweet. Malt is elegant with refined biscuit and pie-crust flavors. Great drinkability and beautiful complexity.”
