Springdale Beer Co. Melange De Mures

What the brewers say

Saison, soured in foeders, aged on marionberries, a type of blackberry, in wine barrels for 6 months.

What our panel thought

Amber with ruby highlight. Hazy. Good head. Very light seedy raspberry/blackberry and carbonic note in the aroma and a bit of a chalky/mineral character. Berry represented well in the flavor. Finish is dry and puckering. Overall fruity and drinkable, but not that exciting.

What our editors thought

Tight and stingy berry nose doesn’t play all its cards, with a slightly chalky mineral note underneath. The sip veers toward red-wine grape, with a subtle light and sparkly red-grape note. The acidity is pronounced.
