St. Elmo Brewing Company Vaughn
What the brewers say
“Texas-style German pilsner—that means it’s extra good for the hotness.”
What our panel thought
“Crackery aroma—a mellow, slightly fruity, intoxicating pillow of smell; hops take a backseat to light, grainy sweetness. Some fruity esters play nicely with Noble hops. Some grainy spice, as an assertive huskiness contributes to the bitterness in an enticing way. Complex melding of malt and hops.”
What our editors thought
“Bready malt and bright floral hops with a tropical-blossom hue. Lower carbonation pushes the bold herbal flavor forward, but the smooth refinement makes it a welcome intensity.”
