What the brewers say

“Pilsner brewed with German pils and Czech Saaz.”

What our panel thought

“Spritzy, bright. A spearhead of bitterness smooths out for a clean, dry finish. Slight corn flavor detracts from the light grainy sweetness, lending an American feel. Carries an aura of hop bitterness throughout. Finishes balanced with a lingering dryness. Could use more oomph in Noble hop flavor.”

What our editors thought

“Cloudy, a touch ‘keller’ in execution. Gentle floral aroma with crisp water-cracker malt. Lemon and lime flavor notes give it zip while a spicy herbal bitterness sneaks in behind.”

Urbanrest Brewing Company Easy Peasy

“Grain and yeast arrive in unison, quickly joined by floral hops, hints of fresh-cut flowers, oregano. A touch of sulfur adds complexity. Soft bitterness leads into light bread and a hint of herbal, earthy hops. Brief, ever so slightly creamy mouthfeel. Surprising bit of alcohol heat back of the throat.”

Urbanrest Brewing Company Freestyle Ded to Me

“Dank hops with a bit of mango in the nose (lemon and diesel, resinous and grassy) while the flavor pulls in some pineapple. Clean bitterness lingers, urging another sip. Bright finish with a subtle hint of white bread as it warms in the mouth.”

Twin Barns Brewing Company Longridge Lager

Light, corn-like malt sweetness in the nose with twiggy, earthy-spicy Noble hops. Light, clean sweetness with evident bitterness and nice spicy-herbal hop flavor—rosemary, pine. A bit thin; malt depth is a faint whisper. Firm bitterness leads to a crisp, dry finish. Hops linger on the palate.
