Arizona Wilderness Brewing Puffy w/ Passion Fruit

What the brewers say

“A decadent dessert sour with flavors of paletas dipped in sweet cream. Soft, comforting body.”

What our panel thought

“Captures the essence of dragon fruit with a pleasant soft cider-like tartness to balance, providing fruitiness, subtle spice, and earth notes. And there’s a distinctive beer character with a lightly toasted malt backbone.”

What our editors thought

“Passion-fruit clouds on the nose. Sweeter in the sip, but the wheat body pushes the sweetness and fruit character into the lightest, highest key, for a pleasant weightlessness despite the sweetness.”

Ciderie Daufresne Poiré

“Great nose, effervescent, strong fruit initially, then hints of must and perfume. Soft floral, woody notes with light cinnamon. Semisweet, pear-like in its earthiness. Pleasant, refreshing, balanced. Not as tannic as most French ciders.”

New Belgium Fruit Smash Pineapple Punch

“A blast of citrus bubblegum smacks your nostrils. Vibrant tropical fruit punch flows through the mouth like a waterslide bouncing back and forth. Explosive pineapple and dry-hop notes round things out with a balanced sweetness. Drinkable and bold.”

WeldWerks Brewing Co. Double Passion Fruit Gose

__Aroma:__ “Big passion-fruit aroma with some notes of pineapple and mango. Slight malt sweetness at the very back. Very juicy with notes of tropical fruit. A little lemon, slightly tart.” __Flavor:__ “Passion fruit dominates, but there are some mango notes. Saltiness comes through on the back, bringing together the fruit and adding complexity. Rather dry on the finish. Tartness is just light of making the mouth pucker. Finishes refreshing.” __Overall:__ “The passion fruit comes through, and there’s a decent malt backbone with moderate acidity and a light dusting of salt. Slight mango and malt sweetness provide some complexity. This has some bold flavors for a kettle sour with a more intense tartness. The sweetness helps to cut through, and this beer is refreshing. Good after a slow meandering bike ride.”
