What the brewers say

Aged in rye whiskey barrels. Chocolate, vanilla, dried fruit, cherry.

What our panel thought

Aromas of bourbon, dark cherry, raisin. Soft malt complexity across the palate with a heavy sweetness. Dark-fruit notes through the retronasal. Big splash of bourbon and cherry at the finish. Some alcohol warmth at the end.

What our editors thought

The warm bourbon oak nose is concise yet rich and welcoming with a peanut-brittle undertone. The sip is instantly enveloping with rich dark chocolate and fennel notes that resolve as a slightly sweet milk-chocolate note, braced by a mild but structuring roast. Exquisitely layered and characterful.
