What the brewers say

A nebula of tangerine and tropical-fruit flavors will welcome you to another world while keeping you grounded on this one.

What our panel thought

Inviting nose with broad, earthy citrus and hints of tropical fruit, apricot, pear. Hop flavor is restrained but balanced—citrus, stone fruit—with light lingering bitterness and balancing malt sweetness. Muted somewhat by a mild chalky note. Finishes dry and bitter but lingers pleasantly.

What our editors thought

White table grape with a touch of grape pixie stick in the nose. The sip is pretty dry, leading with a rounded grapefruit bitterness that doesn’t fall back on malt sweetness. A bit sharp and unyielding straight through into the finish.

West Sixth Brewing Co Pennyrile Pale Ale

Fairly clear with a very robust head. Sweet biscuit-malt nose gives way to subtle but dank hops. Sweet caramel-malty flavor with firm bitterness and nice, light pine-resin hop flavor with sweet orange notes. Easy to drink.

Bent Water Brewing Company Built To Last

“Classic C-hop and caramel in the nose with a little wood and some booze. Woodier in the flavor, very cedar-like, as some vanilla and tannins lead the way. Good firm hop bitterness with plenty of alcohol and some caramel and toffee balance.”

Bent Water Brewing Company Supercharger

“Grapefruit, passion fruit, peach, and low pine and diesel in the background. Touch of malt sweetness melds with stronger peach, passion-fruit, and guava hop flavors and lighter notes of grapefruit and pineapple. Balanced with lingering tropical flavors and bitterness. A slight chalky hint as it fades.”
