Blackberry Farm Brewery Berliner Weisse - Peach & Passionfruit

What the brewers say

“Berliner weisse–style tart ale with peach and passion fruit.”

What our panel thought

“Distinctive fruit character, standing out in a crowd of generic tropical-fruit sours. An earthy lime-pith character throughout adds depth and bitterness, pairing well with softer peach and light fruit sweetness. A bit tannic on the finish, but otherwise complex, balanced, unique.”

What our editors thought

“Peach with a bit of tropical sulfur-driven funk in the nose, and a farmhouse-like fermentation note. Dryish in the sip, the peach notes are lean and taut, while the passion fruit provides pointed tropical bitterness.”

Blackberry Farm Brewery Stonefly

“Citrus and pine dominate the aroma and flavor. Light dank, mango nose. Smooth yet intense bitterness lingers on the tongue. Clean and bright, making it easy to drink. Strong notes of tangerine, melon, and papaya. Very dry finish.”

North Park Beer Co. Heaven Hill Barrel-Aged Original Geezer

“Dark chocolate cake with a sidecar of whiskey. Caramel, toffee, chocolate aroma notes are balanced by a hint of citrus hops. Alcoholic heat shows up early in the sip along with that citrus bitterness, chewy caramel, toasted almond, cinnamon.”

Central Standard Brewing Gamma Squeeze

Heady bud nose, bright, with a slight tinge of lime. Flavor is like hop juice, a fistfight between tropical fruit and bitterness; skunky, gassy, with light licorice and a slight burn. A bit muddy. Super creative, even for an inherently creative style.
