Sketchbook Brewing Brewery Witch

What the brewers say

Brewed with the 2018 Pink Boots Society Hops Blend to give it a fruity, citrusy front to balance the dry fin-ish.

What our panel thought

Pours into the glass with a lively head of foam—almost wanting to jump out of the glass. Perhaps a touch too much carbonation with a lingering carbonic bite. Waves of white-wine notes blended with light tropical fruits. Bright and full of life across the palate with sauvignon-grape flavors. Although enjoyable, somewhat one dimensional and finishes abruptly.

What our editors thought

Herbal lavender on the nose offers an almost saison-like character with a touch of yeast phenolics that cement the comparison. The sip is similarly saison-esque with a bit more malt sweetness and slight touch of citrus over a minimal bitterness.

North Park Beer Co. Inversion of Time

“Dank-forward aromatics with sweet tropical-fruit undertones. In the sip, a supportive dose of pine and booze to balance. Some sweet heat stays fairly well-hidden. Maintains balance thanks to a supportive malt structure and soft mouthfeel.”

Terrapin Beer Hoppin’ Bubbly

Toast and light fruit up front, pleasant and relatively delicate. Lush strawberry and hints of orange peel. Dry-ish on the finish but not as bracing as a lot of versions of the style. Finish has great balance with lingering pine bitterness.

Pure Project Shallow Skies

Aroma takes me to a Moroccan restaurant that’s generous with rosewater. The sip brings deep rose essence, like wandering through Portland Rose Garden, with a vinegar touch. Floral depth grounded by tea-like tannin and delicate cherry hints. Unique.
