Stone Brewing Buenaveza

What the brewers say

“Crisp, clean, refreshing Mexican-style lager that quenches thirsts, while gratifying taste buds.”

What our panel thought

“Lime explodes from the glass; you can taste the salted rim before a drop hits your lips. Margaritaville: full-on assault of lime and salt. A bit watery. Leans unbalanced—more lime juice than beer. Impression of pouring lager into remnants of a margarita pitcher.”

What our editors thought

“Salt and lime guide the nose; earthy, corn tortilla–like sweetness sells the theme. Just when you expect a caricature, the sip delivers restrained saline-and-citrus expression that’s nuanced, genuine, and beer-forward.”

10 Torr Distilling & Brewing Secret Cove Cerveza

“Crisp cracker and herbal Noble hops intertwine with slight skunk—complementary and inviting. Great balance between sweetness and bitterness. Finishes quickly. Every sip is fluffy and delicate. I could see myself drinking quite a bit of this on a hot summer day while doing yard work. You’d swear a bit of citrus was snuck into this.”

Westbound & Down Brewing Company The Coloradan

Sweet, corny nose with some welcome lemony and floral-grassy hints. Sweet, grainy flavor, but with a good balance of bitterness. Light-bodied. Clean, crisp, drying finish. Light malt and faint bitterness linger in the aftertaste then vanish. Pretty damn elegant. Subtle, clean, endearing.

Green Cheek Beer The Other Brian

Moderate tropical aroma: peach, mango, orange blossom, subtle pine and earth. Inviting. Flavor starts dank, piney, evolving into nectar-like stone fruit. Low sweetness balanced by smooth, gentle, lingering bitterness.
