What the brewers say

"A delicate Helles Lager enriched with a subtle infusion of beechwood smoked malt."

What our panel thought

"Golden pour. Lovely peat aromas balanced well with some floral and noble hop character. A bit of campfire aroma with sweet caramelized smoked meat. The more intense smoked malt aroma gives way to a brighter hop forward flavor with lingering pome fruit and a light citrus note. Subtle malt sweetness balances nicely with a supporting bitterness. Well balanced and structured throughout. Light bitterness on the finish helps dry it out. Very drinkable. Harmonious."

What our editors thought

"Nicely structured smoke in the nose avoids phenolic clichés with deep wood and charcoal without the typical meatiness. Light and herbal in the sip, a touch wide in the body with a wheaty feel but not exactly sweet, and the dryness heightens the tighten smoke finish. Direct and focused."
