Burial Beer Co Our Hearts of Ruin Double Dry-Hopped Pils

What the brewers say

Mash up of delightful keller-pils with dank West Coast IPA. Double dry-hopped with our hand-selected lots of 2020 Motueka, Wai-Iti, and Citra.

What our panel thought

Aroma has some great West Coast hop aspects—pine and citrus. In the flavor, rounded hop bitterness works well with the sweetness. Found it lacking in crispness and brightness.

What our editors thought

Soft tropical hops nose with a clear New Zealand vibe. The sip is rather wide and less focused, without the bitterness that would help define it. But the hops are so compelling, with a green tropical-fruit funkiness, that it becomes easy to enjoy.

REVIEWS FOR YOU >

Flatland Brewing Company Half Life

“Woody, weedy notes dominate the nose with citrus sneaking through. Herbal notes, mainly basil, in the flavor, enhanced by the malt richness and alcohol. Hop bitterness and alcohol wash away sweetness.”

Pax Verum Brewing Nectar of the Gods

“Strawberry and breezy pine and grapefruit on the nose. A generous malt complexity adds depth to the beer. Thick body. Starts sweet, but ends with a clean, balanced finish. Really lies down in your mouth, takes a nap, and doesn’t wake up.”

Bhramari Brewing Company Origami Dream

“Vanilla, tart pink lemonade, tangerine in the nose. Key lime and cherry soda. Sweet flavor with marshmallow and vanilla. A little lemon cake at the end pops through the orange and tangerine.”
