Cerebral Brewing Inhabited Form

What the brewers say

“Dry-hopped oat lager with notes of dried kiwi, lime zest, and honeydew melon.”

What our panel thought

“Light fruit, tropical hops, with a backing grainy malt. Dry, bitter on the finish but stops short of aggressive or astringent. Chewy swallow with lingering pine and fruit notes—fairly stiff but balanced. The base lager character takes a back seat to the prominent hop notes, but if you like the lighter side of IPA, it works.”

What our editors thought

“Rustic but well-articulated earthy hop character—baked citrus pie. In the sip, smooth lime herbal notes and gentle carbonation give it a lustrous finish.”

Cerebral Brewing Ultra Modern

“Vanilla-lime aroma. Key lime Dum Dum flavor up front, with a bit of cucumber or watermelon. Then the marshmallow sweetness settles down, and orange and pink grapefruit jump out.”

Roadmap Brewing Co Minor In Italian

In the aroma, floral notes, some hints of grass, a hint of graininess, sulfur, and dash of pepper-spiced hops. Sweet biscuit/cookie-like malt, light bubblegum. The balance is toward the sweetness of the malt with the bitterness somewhat muted behind that. Very sweet on the approach before drying out for the finish.

Prison City 4 Piece Pale Ale Citra

Aroma: “Intense, luscious, juicy ripe tropical-fruit hops character—pineapple, mango, pine. Underlying sweetness leans toward Fanta Orange. Light, refreshing, bordering on NE IPA character. The big hops blast hides most of the malt aroma although some bready notes peek out.” Flavor: “Moderately fruity up front with melon, lemon, strawberry, and light white grape toward the end. A medium bitterness comes right after the fruit and grows throughout the sip. A light orange Creamsicle sweetness mixes with bitterness toward the end. Finish is soft, with a delicate mineral/chewy mouthfeel. It’s not particularly bitter, just enough to balance and accentuate the fruit on the swallow.” Overall: “This fits in with any of the lighter-bodied hazy IPAs that the cool kids like these days. It’s on the lighter side, so it’s easy drinking and refreshing yet very well-made and interesting, with delicate fruit notes throughout.”
