Ballast Point Brewing Co. Citrus Cove Gose

What the brewers say

“Captures the salty spray of an ocean wind mingled with a bright tropical character.”

What our panel thought

“Lovely citrus-peel aroma of grapefruit, lime, and orange peel. A touch pithy in flavor, with some light black pepper, lime, and more citrus notes. Acidity well-balanced, with high drinkability. Finishes clean with some light pith. Very light minerality. Finishes with a tad too much salt.”

What our editors thought

“Herbal lemon-lime tea with a bright undercurrent of fresh-squeezed lime juice on the nose. The sip sacrifices some expected citrus sharpness to a paunchy malt body with a kick of lime in the finish.”

Wiley Roots Brewing Co. Orange Blossom Slush

“Massive orange Creamsicle nose. Obvious orange and vanilla notes; vanilla maybe more than a bit over the top. Pleasant tartness rounds the beer out. Citrus notes come across as natural and fresh; vanilla is earthy-sweet and complementary. Crisp and enjoyable. One dimensional but really well-done.”

TRVE Brewing Co. Meditation is the Practice of Death

Rich fruit character, though not distinctly cherry; also Brett, wood, and earth. Lack of head suggests wine. Oak character adds pleasant light spiciness, with fruit fermentation esters; tart, with berry notes. Subtle yet complex.

Sudwerk Brewing Co. Farmer's Market Citrus Gose Lager

__Aroma:__ “Medium lemon, tangerine, and orange aroma that is somewhat subtle. Slight acidity is noticeable as it warms. Touch of sweetness. Slight, almost passion fruit, juiciness is present.” __Flavor:__ “Bright orange and tangerine notes dominate up front with a touch of lime. An interesting but subtle saltiness appears in the middle but transitions into a somewhat bitter finish that lingers until the next sip. Bright acidity is present up front. Carbonation carries the beer well.” __Overall:__ “Big citrus beer with a light acidity and touch of salt. The beer itself was a bit sweeter than expected with not quite enough acidity to make it taste like a beermosa. Nice, light and refreshing—I would definitely drink this with breakfast on a lazy Sunday.”
