What the brewers say

"Blended foeder sour aged on muscadine grapes."

What our panel thought

"Big grape aroma that's a bit more Concord grape, like than wine-like, but has some pleasant raspberry and dark cherry character especially in the flavor. The fruit largely overshadows the beer itself. Fairly low initial sweetness into strong but not overpowering sour that slowly fades into the finish."

What our editors thought

"Generic grape note on the nose, but the flavor isn't standard. It's low in the funk one expects from grape-driven sour beers, but the sparkling carb drives a quick fruit-forward spritz to satisfy with a champagne-beer experience."

TRVE Brewing Company Ecate

__Aroma:__ “Wine-like. Some delicate sweetness with grape notes and some light funk (sweaty pineapple and horse blanket) with a tartness that hits at the end. Moderate sour juicy aroma with light cherry, white grape, and light peach and pear.” __Flavor:__ “Grapes pop in the flavor with a character somewhere between grape juice and wine. More earthy *Brett* comes through with a freshly fallen-rain aroma. Low to moderate sweetness into moderately high acidity that fades nicely into a dry finish. Finishes with more sweetness than sourness.” __Overall:__ “This beer has it all. It starts with an up-front sourness and big grape flavor that transitions into a light sweetness right before the finish. Lots of *Brett* funk with a very interesting fruit character from the grapes that blends nicely. Very refreshing. Like grape juice meets lemonade.”

Birds Fly South Ale Project Graffiti Heart

Light toasty/caramel malt. Low apricot and cherry esters. Cherry notes improve with warmth. Moderately high acidity in flavor, with a definite leaning to acetic acid. Bright sour-cherry flavor. Light toast. Mouthfeel a touch too light/watery. Finishes very dry, and acidity lingers.

Black Project OXCART (2018)

Subtle and restrained funkiness on the nose with notes of leather, oak, lemon, peach, and horse blanket. This is paired with a soft grainy malt body and slightly tart finish. Refreshing and crisp with delicate fermentation notes. Really well-done.
