Devils Backbone Clink

What the brewers say

The brut brewing process and bottle conditioning serve up a beer that drinks like a hoppy champagne. Hal-lertau Blanc, Nelson Sauvin, and Southern Passion hops create a fruity, tropical hops flavor. We balanced that with three malts.

What our panel thought

Very high carbonation gives it a beautiful head and a noticeable dry bite throughout. Strong white-wine im-pression, grape notes over a spicy hops character. Finish is light, extremely dry to the point of being puckering. It has the basics of the style but more hops character would carry the IPA qualities better.

What our editors thought

Subtly integrated hops nose offers a bit of California white, while the intensely carbonated body floats on the tongue with mild yet sophisticated hops that pull out bits of apple and pear, light tropical fruits, and a touch of pineapple.
