WeldWerks Coconut Medianoche

What the brewers say

"Conditioned on more than three pounds per gallon of toasted coconut flakes and raw coconut chips."

What our panel thought

"Coconut-coffee aroma; low roast. Coffee-soaked Mounds flavor—caramelized sugar, coconut hunks. Rich. Insanely thick. Intense coconut-coffee flavors obscure the underlying stout."

What our editors thought

"Caramel-coconut nose and syrupy-thick body. Luxurious. Intensely sweet sip rounded by earthy coconut and dark malt. Rough edges are polished away, leaving a gleaming example."

Weldwerks Old Fitz Medianoche

Viscous. Barrel-forward aroma with vanilla, oak, dark fudge. Decadent. Sweet flavor: fudge and roast. Barrel adds spice and heat. Not really cloying; massively rich. Alcohol dances around malt, lightening things up.

Weldwerks Coconut Medianoche

Aroma: “So. Much. Coconut. Sharp booze followed by mellow chocolate. Like a Mounds candy bar with a shot of vodka.” Flavor: “A Mounds candy bar. Dark chocolate and roast paired with toasted coconut. Great balance of the adjuncts. Finish is sweet, as you would expect, but still relatively balanced given the other significant aspects of the beer. Nice warming alcoholic boozy note on the finish without coming across overly hot.” Overall: “A coconut-focused beer, to say the least. The coconut stands out from the chocolate. The finish is sweet and boozy, dark chocolate, with some dried-fruit bourbon. Really nice!”

WeldWerks Brewing Co. Double Barrel 1910 Medianoche

“Intense barrel flavors—vanilla, coconut, cinnamon, with decadent fudge and upfront alcoholic sweetness. Compelling hints of almond, cherry. Barrel character really shines.”
