What the brewers say

Grist: Weyermann Premium Pilsner. Hops: German Magnum, Kazbek, Hallertauer Mittelfrüh. Yeast: German Lager 34/70.

What our panel thought

Aroma suggests an American West Coast or New Zealand spin on a classic, but respectful—Noble hops with pine, diesel, sulfur, light minerality. Piney aspects are more pronounced in the flavor. Certainly not classical, but well-executed and drinkable. A fun approach.

What our editors thought

Soft nose splits the difference between herbal and floral, with a gentle citrus-wood element. The sip is peppy and energetic, youthful—more Adidas than Hugo Boss—but that energy comes at the expense of fine-tuned polish.
