Creature Comforts Brewing Co. Neon Cylinders: Sun Glow

What the brewers say

“Neon Cylinders is an intensely fruited sour ale series. This version, Sun Glow, is a kettle sour featuring ripping bright sunshine flavors from apricot, tangerine, and cardamom.”

What our panel thought

“Dark yellow in color with a frothy white head that lasts a while. An interesting, layered medley of fruit greets the nose—honey, tangerine, mimosa-like. Tangerine juice leads the taste, with some soft woody notes. Very pleasant and addictive with an assertive sourness that overpowers any sweetness and drives the fruit flavors to the background. These come out to play in the finish, with the apricot especially lingering on the tongue. The aroma is definitely the highlight of this one.”

What our editors thought

“Wheat nose with just a touch of saison-like fermentation ester. Dry but fruity in the flavor, as stone fruit builds midtone body while the citrus tang sweeps the highs.”

Around The Horn Brewing Company Fluffy Tutu

“Vanilla and tropical-fruit flavors greet the nose. Firm tartness in the flavor, passion fruit follows, with lemon, vanilla, strawberry sweetness balanced nicely with the amount of sourness. Fruit pleasantly lingers on the tongue in the finish.”

Temescal Brewing Plant Parent

“Dank woodsy combines with orange marmalade spread across a low biscuity, light cracker background. Bitterness stands up but in a hushed form that doesn’t measure up to the malt. Still, the hop flavor punches through. Clean aftertaste, and dry.”

Pondaseta Brewing Co. Pyrite v.6

“Orange and pineapple notes with a distinct, classic Madagascar-vanilla aroma. Has a story to it—a beginning, middle, and end in the flavor. Sweet malt in the front, then fruit in the middle (melon, pineapple, citrus) with a resin-and-dank finish. Just enough malt balance and creaminess to bring it all together in a harmonious way.”
