Cigar City Brewing Florida Cracker
What the brewers say
“The Cracker Cowboys of Florida were colonial settlers who arrived in Florida when Spain traded their territory to the English. We brew Florida Cracker White ale with unmalted wheat, orange peel, and coriander and then ferment it with a French Saison yeast strain to give it a spicy and dry finish.”
What our panel thought
Aroma: “Smells like fresh-cut grass! Strong coriander and light wheat aroma with earthy spice. Good lemony citrus character.”
Flavor: “Light malt sweetness, but a bit of a coriander bomb. The carbonic bite helps cut through and deliver a crisp finish, but the coriander still lingers. The wheat malt sweetness adds a good creaminess and the citrus finishes with a nice acidic bite. No flaws.”
Overall: “Balance seems good, but the spices could stand to be toned down a bit. Very refreshing, with the acidic bite in the finish. Pleasantly sweet, crisp, and easy drinking. Great example of the style.”
