Cigar City Brewing Florida Man

What the brewers say

"Bold, tropical double IPA brewed with Pacific Jade, Galaxy, Azacca, Lemon Drop, and Simcoe."

What our panel thought

"Fairly muted aroma: orange, peach, grapefruit peel, light diesel, hint of white grape. Those carry into flavor, where bready, honey-vanilla sweetness merges into smooth bitterness—orange-mango hops, grassy-spicy undertones—and low alcoholic warmth. Medium-full body; lightly sweet, fruity finish."

What our editors thought

"Earthy, grounded, tropical nose, equal parts rustic and sweet. Tropical fruit notes dominate the sip, backed by earthy, mellow bitterness—not West Coast, not New England, something else."

Cigar City Brewing White Oak Jai Alai

__Aroma:__ “Pine and orange with a touch of peach. Spicy clove. A bit of mint a bit of honey, and a bit of vanilla. Alcohol evident, but not overly hot. There’s also a subtle malt sweetness with a toasted quality and very slight touch of caramel. Low intensity overall on the aroma.” __Flavor:__ “Hints of sweetness and some orange with an earthy spice character. A little mint and slight caramel sweetness. The malt carries the hops and is cut by their significant bitterness. Potent stuff—alcohol evident. Moderate carbonic acid bite that dances on top of the bitterness in the finish.” __Overall:__ “Interesting flavor profile with a complexity of some fruity and caramel sweetness with some earthy spice notes from the hops. Pretty solid, but also pretty in your face for bitterness and carbonation.”

Cigar City Brewing Jai Alai

Lovely, bright, hop aroma—blood orange, mango—with wort-like sweet caramel. Unsweetened-orange-juicy—zesty, pithy flavor—with a balancing caramel note that smacks into a medium-high wave of bitterness. It sticks a bit, but you go back for that orange punch and malty hug.

Firestone Walker Brewing Co Mind Haze

“Cotton-candy and grape notes in the nose, with hints of perfume and light floral. Flavor profile is light but fleeting. A wash of chalkiness strips away much of the nuance. As the finish lingers, hints of pine and citrus emerge. APA body encased in hops.”
