Fly Llama Brewing Me Llamo Llamo

What the brewers say

“Brewed with Texas blue corn, great with or without a lime.”

What our panel thought

“Grainy, bready nose presents itself as somewhat husky. A hit of perfumy and herbal hops greets you. The malt is out of the way, just a hint of sweetness with moderately low bitterness. A green-fruit character and acidity finishes with the sip. Flabby. Crushable, reminding me of its European roots. Salt of the earth.”

What our editors thought

“Fresh-baked bread in the aroma with slight earthy undertones. Slimmer in the flavor than the nose suggests, with light, refined herbal hops and heavily toasted bread.”

Ratio Beerworks Rooftops

“Crisp herbal notes float up from the foam. Flavor is extremely light; has a corny, sweet, creamy quality in the middle. Subdued hop bitterness doesn’t help balance the sweetness.”

Kings County Brewers Collective Tacozilla

“Sweet, lightly estery aroma with stewed corn. Flavor has pleasant crackery malt, spritzy with a slightly metallic, papery finish. Cleanly fermented. A crusher, effervescent and light, a touch of acidity. Balances on the sweet side; a little more hop character would make it more memorable. Would benefit from a lime wedge.”

Fly Llama Brewing Millie Grace

“Light bready and bread-dough aroma up front with a low banana ester and slight lime hint. Mild tartness morphs into a light lemon-lime note in the flavor. Banana flavors are nicely restrained by a touch of clove, while both elements balance a bready malt body. Creamy mouthfeel.”
