What the brewers say

“Earthy, crisply carbonated, toasty fest beer.”

What our panel thought

“Golden honey–colored, excellent clarity, white head. Malty aroma with a hint of graham cracker and grain, with a tinge of herbal hops. Large, pillowy carbonation on the palate. Light honey and cracker malt character. Finish has enough bitterness to keep it balanced but enough sweetness to remind you it’s bigger than a helles.”

What our editors thought

“Sweet nose with a faint floral-hop note. Much bitterer in the sip, with a well-integrated bitterness that tucks right in.”

Fort George Brewery Beach Eagle

“Very mellow nose, a touch of grain. Rich malt flavor, hints of dough, floral hops—and bigger and more flavorful than you’d expect in a Mexican lager. Well balanced with a delicate, slightly spicy, hop finish.”

Fort George Brewery Short Sands

“Herbal hop-led nose with clean toast just behind it. Balancing bitterness and some bright lemon-hop character up front lead into light strawberry and melon flavors from the hops, some malty graininess toward the back. Finish is dry and incredibly clean and refreshing. Well balanced, bright, and clean.”

Fort George Brewery Suicide Squeeze

“Very light bready aroma supports a moderate fruity apricot and berry hop character. The flavor has the same light bready base, but the ripe apricot and moderate red currant/berry notes pop, along with a moderate honey flavor character without the sweetness. Medium bittering is smooth and lingers into a stone-fruit finish.”
