Stone Brewing Fyodor

What the brewers say

Rich coffee, bitter and milk chocolate, dark charred oak, vanilla, and caramel.

What our panel thought

Roasty character on the nose, with pleasant coffee notes, a bit of toffee, and some mild alcohol. The flavor reprises the roasty base with some nice alcohol character. It’s lightly warming with a hint of spice but nothing remotely hot.

What our editors thought

Tightly defined nose of oiled leather and dry oak transitions to a sharp sip where equal parts roast acidity and residual sweetness hit quickly, then fade into a lingering dry dark chocolate finish.

pFriem Family Brewers Cold Brew Coffee Barrel Aged Stout

“Dark-roast cold-brew with cream in the aroma, carrying through into the flavor. Slightly astringent; roast-coffee note lingers into the finish with unsweetened chocolate. Pleasant warmth accompanies each sip.”

The Lost Abbey Church on the Hill 2021 vintage

“Coffee with a pepper-flesh character that fades into the oak. The flavor is bitter espresso fortified with a half shot of bourbon. Finishes off dry with lingering bitterness.”

Highland Brewing Southern Nouveau Cafe au Lait

Coffee, maple, and chocolate aroma. The sip brings maple-caramel sweetness, roast coffee, and light cinnnamon-spice bitterness; a charred note and warmth round out the sweet, coffee-led finish.
