Goldfinger Brewing Company Zlotonator Doppelbock

What the brewers say

“Deep flavors of molasses, caramel, and dark fruits rounded out by a herbal hop flavor and subtle minerality.”

What our panel thought

“Dried fruit, leather. Toffee and stewed fruits with a spicy hop character that binds it together. Slightly boozy, with a nice warming effect. Some tea-like astringency on the finish. Complex and interesting throughout.”

What our editors thought

“A touch of phenol character in the aroma with some sweet dark toasted malt. Sweet and rich in the sip with a strong herbal-floral hop note that feels almost lyrical.”

Goldfinger Brewing Company Pils

“Great clarity, fluffy white head. A touch of bready yeast on the nose; fresh hops, floral and herbal, a bit of sulfur. Firm, pleasantly bitter backbone, moderately grainy with an herbal, slightly spicy hop profile. Mild carbonation, light malt body. Well balanced. The dry, bitter, refreshing finish lingers.”

Goldfinger Brewing Company Original Lager

“Slightly floral and tropical aroma. Doughy, bready—very classic German. Touch of herbal hops with a light peppery spice note. Well-balanced clean bitterness tamps down the light malt sweetness, as both linger through to an off dry finish. Leans a little sweet but it’s a nice, drinkable beer.”

Chapman I Feel Pretty Doppelbock

Aroma: “Moderate rich malt up front and throughout with light toast and very light dark caramel plus apples, plums, raisins. Hops are muted but spicy. Very clean.” Flavor: “Moderate-low dark-fruit flavors of prune and raisin. Moderate roasted malt. Alcoholic warmth that is not harsh or ‘boozy’ but quite noticeable. Low spicy esters. Clean fermentation. Slightly sweet finish with low carbonation.” Overall: “Some pleasant dried-fruit and roasted-malt flavors. Lingering spicy-hops flavor is quite enjoyable.”
