Good Word Brewing & Public House Coastline Pils

What the brewers say

“Floor-malted Bohemian pilsner malt. Step-mashed with a single decoction, dry-hopped with Saphir, then krausened.”

What our panel thought

“Toes both lines with pleasant herbal-like Noble hop notes and American ‘c’ hop characters—grassy, citrus—to supplement. Little punchy sulfur brings the package together wrapped tightly in clean execution and overall drinkability.”

What our editors thought

“Perfume nose with grape and white flower notes. The flavor drops down into deeper herbal grape with an earthy grain malt note and lingering spicy bitterness. Raw and expressive, rather than polished, with a lingering lambic-like hop funk.”

Good Word Brewing & Public House Coastline Pils

“Sulfury aroma, with dank hops more characteristic of New World varietals. The hop flavor is spicier. Some punchy huskiness contributes to a bold overall flavor and tannic bitterness. The finish isn’t as crisp or clean as it could be, and there’s a lingering thick mouthfeel. A surprising twist. This is a loud and unrestrained pils released from its cage.”

Good Word Brewing & Public House None Shall Inherit The Earth

“Pleasant chocolate-roast aroma; coffee, toast, hints of pine and earthy hop; just a touch of char/ash. Light body, but not light on flavor—well-integrated chocolate, roast, coffee; very low esters. Leans into roast bitterness, lacking the aroma’s nuance, yet easily drinkable.”

Good Word Brewing & Public House Die Todd Die

Clean aromatics with a nice light malt presence and a touch of floral and perfume-like hops. Muted grassy nose with an odd malty sweetness. The bitterness is present early and often with a light grassy note enhancing the soapy and floral hop characteristics. Aggressive, sharp bitterness with a lingering vegetal flavor, almost celery-like. A touch of cracker-like malt attempts to ground things mid palate, but that sharp bitterness reemerges and lingers into the finish. Finishes astringent.
