Green Cheek Beer Company- Costa Mesa Happily Deceased

What the brewers say

“Super-punchy aromatics with some well-rounded bitterness, lots of ripe mango, riesling, and cotton candy–pixie dust.”

What our panel thought

“Classic hop profile in the aroma: grapefruit, orange, pine, a bit of green onion, chives. A hint of bready malt. The flavor echoes the aroma. Moderate sweetness into moderate bitterness. Finish is quite dry, very clean. Modern take on a classic West Coast IPA.”

What our editors thought

“Grassy garlic, white floral notes, touches of gooseberry in the nose. In the sip, light lemon, tangerine notes bounce around with crisp floral bitterness, light and energetic. Bouncy, like pogoing pop punk kids.”

Green Cheek Beer Company- Costa Mesa Training Bines

“Subtle nose with lemon, papaya, pine, and a slightly sweet malt in the mix. The flavor has hints of hash, pineapple, mango, and orange candy, with a classic, clean malt profile that lingers behind the hops. Hop bitterness keeps the beer in the spectrum but well balanced.”

Omission Bright Eyed IPA

“Light Earl Grey tea and wort aroma. The hop aroma is a bit muted, but the flavor delivers the hops and has a medium level of supporting bitterness. Clean and refreshing with medium-high carbonation and a semidry finish.”

Arizona Wilderness Brewing Strong Safety

“Bright citrus-forward aroma of tangerine, lemon, grapefruit pith with hints of green tea, earthy pine, cedar creates a compelling and complex nose. The heft of the alcohol is well-hidden, and the finish is pleasantly bitter. But the flavor lacks the aroma’s compelling complexity.”
