What the brewers say

“New Zealand–style pilsner with Motueka and Waimea hops.”

What our panel thought

“Fresh and floral in the nose with some subtle notes of strawberry, lemon, and pine. The fruitiness comes through more in the flavor for an impression of fruit punch–like flavors without the syrupy sweetness. Clean and crisp in the finish with a gentle and restrained bitterness.”

What our editors thought

“Key lime and white floral aroma with a touch of petit-four sweet breadiness. A juniper berry–like freshness adds zip to the citrus in the sip.”

Untitled Art / 2nd Shift New Zealand Pilsner

“Tropical hop aroma; citrus, herbs, green apple, spearmint. Flavor sweeter and mouthfeel heavier than expected, but tropical notes are delightful. Malt backbone helps stand up to these hops. Like lager hop juice.”

Strange Days Brewing Co Noiseyland

“Orange citrus, herbal notes, and a touch of pine create a marmalade-like nose with a hint of rose petal. The floral notes emerge more in the flavor and add a perfume-like fruitiness, with hints of strawberry and melon mixing in. Clean and crisp with a nice bold, but balanced, bitter finish.”

Jack's Abby Brewing Mass Rising

**Aroma:** Citrus and pine hops with some floral notes. The aroma is all about hops, but some bready pils notes and lager sulfur sneak through. Some impressions of coconut. Yeasty nose softens the hops and malt; a bit of alcohol, too. **Flavor:** Lots of chewy hop flavor, but a surprisingly balanced malt body without much sweetness. Pleasant cracker-like malt flavor. Aftertaste is rather resinous and sticky. Strong bitterness finishes the hop story. Clean fermentation. **Overall:** Initial flavors are very enjoyable and pils-like, but the mid- and aftertaste hits hard from the lingering bitterness and alcohol. Very hoppy, with an astringency that hangs on for a long time. A nice display of hop complexity that comes at the cost of malt profile.
