Junkyard Brewing Company Mega Munchies

What the brewers say

“This snack attack is known for its creamy caramel, rich chocolate, smooth peanut flavors.”

What our panel thought

“Aroma is sweet and chocolaty, giving the impression of Milky Way or Snickers. Flavor is chocolaty and suh-weet! A low alcohol note and a hint of bitterness. Like a liquid candy bar, in a great way.”

What our editors thought

“Light nose with a soft nuttiness and a touch of sharper dark-malt roast. The initial sweetness plays against a quick-forming dark bitterness, slightly disjointed.”

Barn Town Brewing Co. Vanilla Chocolate City

“Velvety vanilla, whiskey, tobacco, toasted cocoa in the nose. Very flavor-forward: sweet raw vanilla, sweet caramel, but a chocolate bomb! Brownie base and Tootsie Roll. Long, sweet finish.”

Nantahala Brewing Company Chocolate-Covered Cherry Stout

__Aroma:__ “Rich sweet notes of cherries make it smell like a cherry cordial. Some high dark chocolate aroma dominates the notes, with some raisin, plum, and slight vanilla presence, with a bit of toast.” __Flavor:__ “The notes of chocolate and cherries dominate and carry through the beer—the cherries are bright and sweet, and the chocolate is light and milky. Fruit esters (cherry, raisin, and plum) dominate the mid-palate and give a round and sweet flavor throughout. Roast is thin and light in the back, with little to no hops presence outside of the finish.” __Overall:__ “A very fun beer—I enjoyed the blend of cherries and chocolate, and as it warmed, it tasted like chocolate- covered cherries. It’s a great sweet and chewy stout with fruity esters to balance the roast. Would love an imperial version, with boosted flavors.”

Cellarmaker Brewing Company Regeneration Cycle

“Aroma of earthy chocolate, big vanilla, moderate coconut. Flavor is quite sweet, almost cloying, but offset by bitterness and spicy alcohol—notes of chocolate, coconut, vanilla. Viscous, mouth-coating. Long, sweet finish.”
