What the brewers say

“English-style barleywine aged in a blend of bourbon barrels.”

What our panel thought

“Notes of treacle and prominent boozy bourbon. Full-bodied, moderately sweet with notes of vanilla, chocolate. Lots of dark fruity flavors including plum and raisin. Sweetness somewhat restrained by the drying alcohol.”

What our editors thought

“Deep syrah and earthy notes in the aroma with a touch of espresso, but an almost jammy berry undertone. Rides a near-perfect line in the sip between the more expressive dark-fruit notes, the rich caramel and chocolate body, and a smooth whiskey squeeze.”
