What the brewers say

“English-style barleywine aged in port barrels for 18 months.”

What our panel thought

“Dark stone fruit, cherry-like, intermingles with dark roast consisting of coffee and chocolate. Starts sweet and ends sweet, but not overly cloying. Intense chocolates, a touch of toffee, all with an underlying and consistently smooth alcohol component. Complex, silky smooth, and interesting.”

What our editors thought

“Jewel-toned aroma of rubies and garnets, refined cabernet sauvignon grapes, Cuban cigar tobacco, and slate after a quick rain shower. Rich red fruits play with a light minerality and supportive chocolate undertones, but the top note feels light and effortless despite its heft. The rich vinous character continues in the sip, hemmed in by the deeper spice and chocolate notes, producing a concise and focused fruit that clears the palate effortlessly.”
