Lakefront Brewery Inc Oktoberfest

What the brewers say

“Heaps of Munich malt give our Oktoberfest its nutty, caramelly flavor.”

What our panel thought

“A toasty malt aroma leads to a deeper malt flavor, with toffee, light raisin, and a hint of roasted marshmallow. Compelling aroma, with floral accents, wildflower honey. The finish is relatively dry, with almost a hint of roast along with a light brush of earthy hops.”

What our editors thought

“Sweet fragrant floral-hop nose overwhelms the faint malt. The same is true in the sip, as a light sweetness without other malt character makes it a rather one-sided affair.”

Lakefront Brewery Inc Hazy Rabbit IPA

“Huge dank and resin in the aroma. A brutal mingling of fruit and bitter hop notes that somehow just works in the taste. Semibitter finish. Mango, orange juice, and pineapple duke it out with the malt sweetness and pine-resin qualities.”

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co Oktoberfest

“Soft floral Noble-hop aroma. Subtle bread and biscuit malt notes. Very light metallic twinge to the water profile, but it finishes clean and dry with a light lingering bitterness. More festbier than märzen.”

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co Bigfoot

“Strong pine and citrus aroma with soft apricot and dried-fruit notes. Moderate caramel and toast malt—simple, but very well balanced. Strong bitterness with pine, citrus, and black pepper. Malt comes back into focus later in the flavor, leaving a very well balanced, hop-forward beer. Incredible clarity.”
