What the brewers say

“A kaleidoscope of Lotus, Galaxy, and Azacca hops reveals notes of mango, orange, cantaloupe, and peach.”

What our panel thought

“Soft, pleasant, lemony aroma with some spikier grapefruit-punch notes. Lighter on the palate than expected, lively and drying, with citrus-pith hop flavor and a resinous bitterness. Very hop-forward flavor with low bitterness and a lingering grassy, citrus note in the finish.”

What our editors thought

“Coconut-lime on the nose, with a funky locker-room edge. The sip leads with a pithy herbal bitterness that quickly dissipates into gentle notes from the nose, with mild lingering bitterness.”

Left Hand Brewing Company 1265 Pilsner

Aroma of resinous hop—lemony, slightly tropical and sweaty, but bright and alluring—with low underlying malt. Flavor is light—watery, earthy—but light sweetness helps to push a lemony-citrus hop tang. Moderately bitter, resinous; needs more malt depth to contain it. Very American take.

Left Hand Brewing Company St. Vrain Tripel

“Aroma is a little off, funky but in an unpleasant way. Pungent ester and spice in the aroma. Slightly rubbery. Thin mouthfeel, slightly alcoholic, strawberry-banana flavor in the back with damp earth-flavored hops and light spiced hop flavor.”

Brewskey Pub & Taproom Singularity Citra

“Funky overripe melon and pineapple in the nose. A firm bitterness, some dank, diesel hop flavor followed by fresh melon. Just a slight sharpness fades away into softer flavors and a lasting sweeter finish.”
