Lift Bridge Brewery Irish Coffee Stout

What the brewers say

“Milk stout is blended with whiskey barrel-aged imperial stout before it’s finished off with locally roasted coffee.”

What our panel thought

“Fresh roasted cold brew coffee with a hint of nuttiness and vanilla. Initial blast of coffee bitterness is quickly followed by a round sweet note, equal parts brown sugar, almond, vanilla. Sweetness slowly fades into a rounded coffee-bean bitterness.”

What our editors thought

“Coffee and cream with almost hazelnut and marshmallow highlights in the aroma. Deeper sweet chocolate drives the sip with a softening vanilla note that heightens the sweetness. Dark-chocolate bitterness lingers long.”

Lift Bridge Brewery Silhouette with Vanilla

“Moderate oak and vanilla notes lead the charge and control the aroma. The flavor brings in dark malt character featuring Hershey’s chocolate syrup and roast. Rich and thick with a lingering sweetness and hints of oak. The vanilla rounds out all the rough edges without being out of balance.”

Lift Bridge Brewery Getaway Pilsner

“Velvety long-lasting head and brilliant clarity. Pleasant floral perfume aroma plays well with a rustic graininess. A well-integrated, smooth hop flavor in harmony with the bitterness. Notes of white wine and unripe cantaloupe lead into a light doughy malt flavor with a hint of sweetness. Clean and snappy finish. The Noble-adjacent hop flavors steal the show.”

Offset Bier Drawn to the Dark: Coffee Milk Stout

“Assertive roasted coffee front and center in the aroma and flavor. Smells like fresh-ground coffee. Tastes like a just-brewed cup, with balancing bitterness and a smooth delivery of chocolate.”
