What the brewers say

"A blend of 13-month-old... mixed-fermentation farmhouse-inspired ale, and fresh, young, clean, oak-fermented farmhouse-inspired ale."

What our panel thought

"Rich fermentation complexity with hints of weirdness. Spicy pepper aroma, wood, stone fruit, wet wool, raspberries. Tart and fruity, equal weight given to Brett woodiness."

What our editors thought

"Bright and effervescent with a nose that evokes tropical fruit, orange zest, aged oak. White-wine-like with subtle fruit character, subtle acidity."

Protagonist Beer Kal-El

“Classic Belgian saison aroma of hay, bread yeast, pepper, bubblegum, tiny bit of banana and vinegar. Earthy taste, with lemon, pears, and Noble hops. Substantial hop bitterness. Richer-than-expected mouthfeel.”

Uhl’s Brewing Co Raspricot Shleemies

“Deep pink pour. Brilliant citrus-hop nose with a soft honey note. Full body, with citrus-tropical hop juice shining all the way with a raspberry touch. Intriguing blend of hops and fruit. Pleasant acidity.”

Yazoo Brewing Brett Saison

Zesty as hell—lemon-lime, white pepper, berries, wood, dry hay. Bright, crisp flavor; beautiful balance of light fruit, hints of pine and citrus, with a light spiciness that persists through the finish. Woody Brett notes in aftertaste. Pleasingly dry, with medium tartness balancing the limited residual malt. Light and refreshing despite the complexity, this is a fantastic beer.
