Crooked Stave Member Berries Petite Sirah

What the brewers say

"A spontaneous golden sour ale aged in oak barrels with petite sirah grapes."

What our panel thought

Enjoyable and complex aroma: raspberry and plum notes from the grapes, oak, funk, a very light touch of lactic sourness. Flavor is similar yet highly tannic. Grape character dominates."

What our editors thought

"Rich nose of dark cherries and raspberries, black pepper, leather. The sip is sharp red berry, oak tannin, spicy pepper, bitter Brett funk, and a simultaneously juicy and dry red grape."

Speciation Artisan Ales Extropian

An attractive bright yellow color and beady white head just invites you in. A whole jungle of cinnamon pops right out in the aroma. Flavors include Tootsie Pops, sweet cherry, and cinnamon as well as peaches and cream. Would pair well with butterscotch ice cream.

Uhl’s Brewing Co Raspricot Shleemies

“Deep pink pour. Brilliant citrus-hop nose with a soft honey note. Full body, with citrus-tropical hop juice shining all the way with a raspberry touch. Intriguing blend of hops and fruit. Pleasant acidity.”

Casey Brewing & Blending Casey Family Preserves: Raspberry

Ruby-red hue. Aroma oozes raspberry. Flavor delivers a punch of tart, fresh fruit, amplified by lingering acidity. Not much else, and that’s OK. I suspect the brewer told the finance team to fuck off on this one, throwing in all the raspberries they had.
