Modern Brewery Little Hollywood

What the brewers say

“With Hallertau Mittelfrüh, Hallertau Blanc. Dry hopped with Citra, Simcoe, Nectaron.”

What our panel thought

“Modern take on West Coast hops, citrus and pine with some subtle backing stone fruit and spice. Moderate pine and earthy hop flavor. Low grainy malty note of bread and cracker. Refreshing and bright finish.”

What our editors thought

“Fine Southern Hemisphere hop note in the aroma, with touches of mango and a nice sulfur structure. Crisp and concise in the flavor, not exceedingly bitter, with a quick finish that suggests the next sip.”

Modern Brewery Matadora

“Cracker and bread malt notes blend with hints of corn and light floral hops in the nose. A nice dose of minerality helps create a counterpoint to the malty sweetness, allowing some more subtle floral hop notes to emerge. Finish is fairly clean and nicely dry.”

To Øl Gose to Hollywood

**Aroma:** “Bright lemony citrus aroma with light mango. Light tart aroma with a mild saltiness. Some salt character on the nose. Refreshing and crisp.” **Flavor:** “Moderate fruity lemon tart up front with light grapefruit mango and raspberry. Light bitterness toward the end of the taste and finishes with a light sour note. The moderate carbonation plays well with the sourness creating a nice level of complexity. Crisp and refreshing.” **Overall:** “Very sessionable with a pronounced citrus fruitiness balanced with a nice sour backbone. This beer is fruit-forward with a nice underlying tartness. Very drinkable with appropriate sweetness, a little lactic-acid tartness, and slightly salty.”

Modern Times - The Belmont Fermentorium Oracolo

Pretty pale gold with a shower of bubbles. Fantastic, punchy nose that is hop-dominant but has enough grainy pilsner malt to balance. Heavy dose of earthy, floral hops just bursting with flavor. Some malt holds it together, and it finishes dry with a pleasant lingering finish. Just enough bitterness on the tongue for you to want to come back and have another sip.
