Moksa Brewing Co Nebulosity

What the brewers say

“Brewed with over 5.5 pounds per barrel of hand-selected Citra, Strata, and Simcoe.”

What our panel thought

“Tropical aromas of pineapple and passion fruit play off citrus notes of orange and lemon with a healthy dose of pine. The soft body showcases the interplay between the sweet tropical and citrus-fruit notes with a hint of melon.”

What our editors thought

“Very pale, with toasted orange peel and papaya in the nose. On the tongue, it’s pillowy, with a sneaky herbal bitterness that gives way to bigger sweet and tangy papaya notes. Bright, and easy to keep drinking.”

Moksa Brewing Co Yakima Trinity

“Aroma is piney and has berry fruit. Strawberries, papaya, peach, pine resin, grapefruit, woodland berries with hints of raspberry in the flavor. Moderate levels of carbonation allow the hop flavors to pop against a saltine or white-bread malty backbone. Well-balanced and finishes slightly dry.”

Firestone Walker Luponic Distortion 012

A classic West Coast IPA–lovers IPA. The dank, vegetal, and piney aromas of onion, green pepper, and spruce tips carry through to the flavor and integrate well. The malt profile is noticeable, but not sweet, giving the beer enough body to stand up to the assertive hops notes yet retaining a supportive role. The finish is dry and bitter but pleasantly mouth-coating.

Unsung Brewing Vater Von Pils

“Strong, classic hop aromatics: fennel, lemongrass, sage. Sticky bread dough. Hop character dominates palate from start to finish. Sticky bread dough peeks through as waves of herbs and earth sweep over. Tastes like it didn’t finish fermenting; could be drier. Bitterness lingers. Lacks depth.”
