Orpheus Brewing Everything Lasts Forever

What the brewers say

Blend of one-, two-, three-, and four-year-old beers spontaneously fermented in barrels.

What our panel thought

Aroma of apricot, blueberries, tropical fruit, lemons, horse blanket, wet hay, leather. In the flavor, lemony acidity leans acetic—puckering—with apricot, orange, blueberry, red fruit. Dry. Nice change of pace. Fairly easy drinking. Relatively lacking in complexity.

What our editors thought

Strong caramel and vinegar notes on the nose feel more Flanders than golden sour. The sip is soft, the acidity reasonably controlled despite aroma hit. Light wood tannins emerge with soft oak, vanilla, orange, lemon—but it's hard to overcome that acid shock.

Funk Factory Geuzeria The Last Four Winters...

Citrus and light berry esters, layered atop fresh-mown hay; inviting aromas that build anticipation. Whiffs of lemon, orange peel, vanilla, and touch of funk. Taste is more funky and tart than aroma suggests; sharp, earthy.

Orpheus Brewing I Am Only Memories

Solid raspberry, blackberry, and light cherry aroma and funk. Light acid aroma. Bright, puckering acidity up front. Raspberry and blackberry follow. It’s not just all fruit; beer pokes its head out a bit. Light earthy bitterness. Finish is dry and very puckering.

Speciation Artisan Ales Laurentian: Lake Michigan

Beautiful color and clarity. Notes of red apple, pear, vanilla, oak. Lemon verbena and straw carry into the flavor. Medium-acid, mid-palate sweetness, and very dry finish. Low funk with light pineapple and a lingering lactic bite.
