pFriem Family Brewers IPA

What the brewers say

“Big hops, huge citrus, and a candy-like malt.”

What our panel thought

“Big hop aroma with a woody, piney, lightly citrus pith punch. Light POM and peach—almost a little plum. Flavor has a big up-front piney-citrus bite that leads to a crisp, bitter, drying finish. A nice underlying malt sweetness ties together the hops and bitterness. Piney, citrusy hops linger.”

What our editors thought

“Citrus with a distinct floral-blossom note in the nose, the flavor uses a touch of malt sweetness to highlight the citrus notes in the sip, while the restrained bitterness recedes. Crisply modern with a classic familiarity.”

pFriem Family Brewers IPA

Piney-floral hop aroma—grapefruit, orange, pith, peel, sweat. Notes of sweet caramel and nutty grain. Rounded malt sweetness up front, rolling through citrus zest into smooth bitterness and a clean, dry finish. Some sweetness lingers. Bright, juicy, very drinkable.

Offshoot Beer (The Bruery) Escape [it's your everyday West Coast IPA]

“Sweet herbaceous blend on the nose, black tea and cannabis. Touches of citrus underneath. Sweet malt flavor brings out more cannabis, more citrus, lime zest.”

Slice Beer Company Megablaster

“Significant diesel and dank aroma initially, then light lime notes. Very simple malt flavor dominated by hop flavors of pine, diesel, pithy citrus peel, black pepper, hints of anise and grass. Firm bitterness. Finish is a touch fruity sweet.”
