What the brewers say

“German-style pilsner … lightly hopped with Saaz, Magnum, and Meridian.”

What our panel thought

“A light hint of sulfur quickly dissipates and gives way to a nose of perfume-like hops and slightly grainymalt. The initial sweet malt flavor quickly gives way to a floral hop bitterness that tempers the sweetness and carries the bitterness into the finish. Pleasantly bitter but lacks a bit of crispness.”

What our editors thought

“Light green tropical notes with a bit of tropical bitterness—a curious approach that works. Well-carbonated body brings forth the tropical bitterness in a smooth and pleasant way.”

Highland Park Brewery New View

“Tropical New World hops galore—mango, coconut, vanilla, and more. Flavor matches hop notes in the aroma with medium-low bitterness. Clean (hazy appearance aside), at the expense of lager character, and the heavier body departs from the snappier lager expectations. Defies style descriptions.”

Precarious Beer Project Precarious Pils

“Very unassuming aromatics of perfume, light pine, and hints of grapefruit create a fun nose. Flavor is much more assertive with some bitter citrus and floral notes within a clean, light malt body. Pleasantly bitter finish is clean and crisp.”

Highland Park Brewery Refresh

“Sweet candy-like quality permeates the aroma, unique and distinct candied white grape. Very clean bitterness. Hops impart a fruit wine or white wine like characteristic, with a woody quality. A hint of grainy sweetness leads into a dry finish. Very creative.”
