What the brewers say

“Wheatwine collaborative with Wren House Brewing and Superstition Meadery aged in bourbon barrels for 12 months and finished in Syrah-wine barrels for 12 months.”

What our panel thought

“Bananas Foster up front with a mix of barrel, banana, and a bit of cinnamon spice. Neither the banana nor the barrel overwhelms the beer. More malt comes through in the flavor with caramel and toffee.”

What our editors thought

“Caramelized banana on the nose is only partly supported with a touch of wood spice. The sip borders on BA weizenbock with rich malty and fermentation notes, a touch of alcohol that gives it definition, and a remarkably light finish.”
