Reuben's Brews Tmavétor

What the brewers say

“Our interpretation of a Czech-style doppelbock, partially fermented in second-use bourbon barrels.”

What our panel thought

“Sherry, vanilla, and toasty malt, laced with toffee, dates, and raisin. Slight burnt sugar note running through. Despite all the signifiers of sweetness, it finishes dry. A fair amount of wood in both the nose and flavor.”

What our editors thought

“Light smoke mingles with dark caramel and a touch of dark cacao in the nose. In the sip, a woody hop note reinforces the rigidity of the tightly orchestrated dark malt for an austere approach to rich flavor.”
