What the brewers say

Notes of red berries, cherry, and a faint smokiness with a complex mouthfeel and tart finish.

What our panel thought

Cherry-like notes with light malt and light savory and smoky notes. Aroma’s woody herbal note is reminiscent of a gruit. Flavor is in that same vein, with a nice balance of acid and sweetness. Beery like an old-school fruit beer, but drier.

What our editors thought

A bit of sweet cotton candy with a tart berry counterpoint and dry red wine on the nose. The sip holds a tight line with subtle sweetness, a mild phenol, and a very light mineral funk. Less austere than most, but in no way sweet. It finds a unique balance.
