Russian River Brewing Co - Santa Rosa Jannemie

What the brewers say

Using our standard Saison Robert as the base beer, we bottle-condition Jannemie with a mild strain of Brett.

What our panel thought

Bright gold with sticky lace. Soft, funky aroma with touches of bright stone fruit, grass, and lemon curd. Clove-and-pepper phenolics bloom in the flavor with low stone fruit and moderate, lingering herbal bitterness. Dry and austere. Yeast-driven, with complementary hopping.

What our editors thought

A crisp floral and pepper edge on the nose offers a telltale Brett signature, and that peppery phenol dominates the flavor with a ranging but oddly pillowy spiciness. Dry and minimal.

Perennial Artisan Ales Carolina Gold

“Semi-classic saison aromas with a hint of Coors Banquet leads to spicy flavor and coarse effervescence. Light hints of sweet corn dance within the subtle aroma with notes of stone fruit, pepper, and leather. Firm bitterness balances the full-bodied finish.”

Smog City Brewing White Peach Saison

Fresh peaches, peach skin, raw pie crust in the aroma; a country kitchen in full swing. Low, pleasant acidity, hitting Brett notes as fresh, juicy peach carries through. Restrained acidity, dry and pleasant finish. Approachable for any level of beer drinker.

Russian River Brewing Co - Santa Rosa Janet's Brown Ale

Smells like a pine forest after a spring rain. Fresh American hops aroma: herbal, floral, fresh, with touches of sweet orange, sandalwood, cherry, peach. Lots of hop flavor, but the bitterness is restrained and balanced. Toasty, smooth, layered malt complexity, light chocolate, low caramel. Somewhat dry. Just enough bitterness to balance. Fresh spruce tips linger. Overall impression of a softer, sweeter IPA. Very pleasant and satisfying.
