What the brewers say

Base beer is 100 percent spontaneously fermented beer with 2 pounds of local cherries per gallon of beer.

What our panel thought

Deep garnet with a solid pink head. Muted cherry and cherry-skin aroma. Light leathery funk and butter. Low grainy, biscuit malt. Simple, but solid, cherry flavor pairs well with a subtle, balanced sourness. A light funk adds bitterness to round out a soft, subtle complexity.

What our editors thought

A gorgeous pink foam leaps from the glass while the nose delivers cherry notes with hints of rose, cantaloupe, and linen. Thoughtful, yet quirky and unexpected. The sip is full, with a medium acidity, bold tart and sweet cherry notes, light funky minerality, and a subtle Brett bitterness that ramps up in the finish.
