Vitamin Sea Brewing Seven Bells and All's Well

What the brewers say

"Session coffee stout with cacao nib, vanilla bean, and rotating coffee."

What our panel thought

"Almost vinous dark fruit in the nose; semisweet. Coffee in forefront, chocolate peeks through. Sweet and round: layers of chocolate-covered cherries atop vanilla-laden malt, underlying toffee sweetness, and spicy, luscious finish."

What our editors thought

"Medium-roast coffee on the nose, clean and direct, rounded by a vanilla touch. Big, bold sip with chocolate, hefty coffee roast, and lingering mid-palate caramel alongside roast bitterness. Rich but not decadent."

Upland Brewing Teddy Bear Kisses

__Aroma:__ “A nice medium roast on the nose, with secondary notes of bitter and semisweet chocolate. There’s a fair amount of caramel and dark toffee on the nose that pairs nicely with the roast, but the earthy aroma at the back really dominates. Initially, it almost comes across as a chocolate latte.” __Flavor:__ “Bitter chocolate covers the mouth with some extreme roast character, which gives it a slight wood and tobacco presence. The roast really dominates with a chewy flavor, as if biting into an espresso bean−laced dark chocolate bar. The mouthfeel is fantastic, and coats the cheeks. Finishes with hoppy bitterness, cigar, and tobacco notes.” __Overall:__ “A very good beer. The chocolaty sweetness comes through on the nose and holds on just long enough to balance the roast and cigar notes.”

Perennial Artisan Ales Shake the Frost

“A coffee stout where the line between roast malt and roast coffee is blurred. Here, the aroma hits that sweet spot; the flavor leans hard into coffee, balanced by some dark-roasted malt. In the finish, a creamy coffee character persists without too much of the bitterness or harshness that some stouts can have.”

Crooked Run Group Therapy

Complex citrus—zesty lime, orange, lemon. Chewy mouthfeel, with pleasant, citrus-accented sweetness that balances the low bitterness. A bit muddled; wouldn’t mind a drier finish.
