What the brewers say

“A dry and crispy New American IPA.”

What our panel thought

“Blood orange–like citrus complexity dances beneath pine, cherry, and light bready notes. Medium lemon juice and zest hit first when tasting, followed by light bready and additional pine and citrusy notes—mostly tangerine. Medium-light body presents the hops nicely, giving them the spotlight. A light honey character on the finish.”

What our editors thought

“Peach and apricot on the nose, with a light zip of lemon and dank. Pithy, dank bitterness leads the sip before settling into a lingering peppery grapefruit note.”

New Anthem Beer Project Strange Spot In The Sky

“Deep orange haze. Soft aromas with lingering citrus notes. Orange notes with layers of vanilla and pepper. Velvety finish with soothing citrus-hop flavors with an elevated bitterness. Spirited yet straightforward.”

St. Elmo Brewing Company Smalls

“Strong hop aroma with white-grape must, mango, and lemon. The flavor doesn’t stray far from the aroma, with a medium mouthfeel and a pleasantly full body. The malt profile walks a fine line to keep the hop bitterness in check. Powdered lemon cake. Finishes dry and leaves an herbal and dank aftertaste. Not a hop bomb, and one could drink a number of these.”

Meanwhile Brewing Co. Dream Logic

“The nose relies on simple orange hops buoyed by some bread crust malt. The flavor elevates the citrus, gilding it with a dusting of peppery spice before sliding into a clean, bitter finish. The simplicity doesn’t quite rise to elegance, but it’s very pleasant.”
